5 Days of Diwali 2022 – Significance & Special: Diwali is the most important festival in India, it’s one of the most unique and exciting festivals all around the world. It is the celebration of victory over darkness which falls on the 6th day of the second half (lunar month) in the Hindu calendar. It is also known as the “Festival Of Lights”. since it marks the victory of good over evil, knowledge, and light over ignorance and darkness. First Day Of Diwali Festival – Dhanteras
The first day of Diwali is marked as Dhanteras ( Dhanatrayodashi or Dhanvantari Trayodashi) – “Dhan” means wealth and “Teras” is the 13th day of a lunar fortnight on the Panchanga. God of Wealth Kubera, worshipped for wealth, and prosperity. Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped on Dhanteras.
Many believe on this day the goddess of prosperity and wealth Mata Laxmi was born. People clean their houses to welcome the Maa Laxmi. It is considered to be auspicious to buy Gold, Silver, Kitchen Utensils, and gadgets.
Second of Diwali – Choti Diwali
Naraka Chaturdasi is celebrated because on this day Lord Shri Krishna killed the demon Narakasur. Naraka Chaturdashi falls on Chaturdashi of the Krishna Paksha in the Vikram Samvat Hindu calendar month of Kartik.
We get up before sunrise takes a holy bath and wear new clothes to perform morning religious rituals and festivities follow.
Third-Day of Diwali – Lakshmi Puja/ Kali Puja
The third day of Diwali is considered to have the main eve of the Diwali festival. The third day gives Diwali the name of “Festival of Lights” because everywhere your eyes go you’ll see the Diyas, Kandil, Colourful lightning, etc.,
Families gather together to worship the Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh puja to welcome the goddess of wealth, fortune, and prosperity to enter in there home.
Fourth Day of Diwali – Govardhan Puja
On the fourth day of Diwali people do the Govardhan puja and Bali Pratipada (Pandava). On this day Lora Krishna defeated Indra and asked the people to worship nature.
Govardhan puja is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm in the states of Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. In Gujarat, it’s celebrated as the start of a new year.
Fifth Day Of Diwali – Bhai Dhooj/Vishvakarma Puja
Bhai Dooj is celebrated on the fifth day of Diwali. It is also known as Yama Dwitiya, Bhai Tika, or Bhai Bij. Sister does tilak and prayers for the long and happy lives of their brothers.
Brothers promise to protect them in all situations. Sisters and brothers share their love for each other and make the bond strong.
